College of Humanities CORE Program News for November 26, 2018

1. The deadline for new applications to the 2018 fall semester CORE domestic scholar guest lecture and foreign scholar guest (block) seminar support project is detailed below. For departments planning on inviting domestic or foreign guest lecturers over winter break, please refer to the official document and register by the deadline so that funding may be properly provided.


   A. Target for Support: all departments in the humanities and CORE integrated·interdisciplinary majors
     -Domestic Scholar Guest Lecture: about 500,000 KRW (only for lecturer’s fees)
     -Foreign Scholar Guest (Block) Seminar: about 5,000,000 KRW (airfare, lodging, living expenses, lecturer’s fees, etc.)


  B. Support Deadline
     -Registration Deadline: 5:00 pm Friday, December 21, 2018 (Must be at least one month before the scheduled invitation date)
     -Invitation Deadline: Friday, January 18, 2019
     -Deadline for payment: 5:00 pm Friday, January 25, 2019


2. During 2018 winter vacation there will be a CORE support project for small scale undergraduate group seminars. We ask for your guidance of students so that even during vacation they can actively conduct independent study seminars.


  A. Target for Support:
     -Fundamental Academic Enrichment Model: Seminar groups including at least 5 students who are recipients of the CORE study support fund
     -Campus-wide Model (SNU Model): Seminar groups including at least 5 students who are CORE integrated·interdisciplinary majors


  B. Support Amount: 300,000 KRW per team

  C. Registration Period: Wednesday, November 28 ~ Tuesday, December 4, 2018

  D. Period of Seminar: Monday, December 17, 2018 ~ Thursday, January 31, 2019


3. The CORE Masters' Study Abroad Support (field survey) for the fall semester of 2018 will be as follows. Please consult the official document sent to your department. As the end of the project grows near, we ask you to guide students through the selection process and the announcement of results so that whole process can be done in due date.


  A. Purpose: to supply the opportunity and create the environment where students can learn research ethics and research trends of international standard as well as independently seek out international exchange

  B. Target for Support (Must fulfill all of the requirements listed below)
     -Masters student who is currently or has experience as a recipient of CORE study support grants
     -Has plans to stay overseas for data collection and foreign research for a period of 4 weeks over the 2018 winter vacation (※ visit institution and participate in program relevant to the student’s major field only)
     -Can provide documentary evidence of plane tickets and lodging reservations and payments before leaving the country(※ Can not apply if payments will be made after leaving the country)
     -Must have plans to return to Korea before Thursday, January 31, 2019


  C. Amount of Support: up to 40,000,000 KRW per person including plane tickets, lodging expense (actual expense), and cost of stay (payment based on place and length of study)

  D. Registration Period: Monday, November 26, 2018 ~ 5:00 PM Friday, November 30, 2018

  E. Announcement of Results: 5:00 PM Friday, February 15, 2019
