1. 2017 CORE Symposium and End of the Year Party

  The 2017 CORE Symposium will be held soon. As the second SNU CORE Symposium, it will inspire academic exchange and research activity amongst CORE undergraduate and master’s students building upon the tradition established by the previous event that was held last summer. Following presentations and debates from students, Professor of Asian History Ho-dong Kim will join us to give a special lecture titled <The Moving Court: The Truth of the System of Ordo in the Mongol Empire>. Following this lecture, arrangements are being made for professors to gather for a buffet and an end-of-the-year party in the College of Humanities Boreum Hall. Further details will be announced later as the schedule is finalized. We encourage all professors in the humanities to attend if at all possible. Lastly, preparations for the event would be made significantly easier if professors would email their intention to attend or not to the following e-mail address:

2. The CORE Project will be holding a public essay contest. Participation is encouraged and appreciated.

  - Objective: The preliminary preparation for the grand prize of the 19 universities participating in the CORE Project
  - Target Applicants: All recipients of financial support from the CORE Project
   (The CORE scholarship, financial aid for study abroad, overseas on-site education, overseas field training, participation in academic conferences, etc.)
  - Length Requirements: 5 A4 pages or less (12-point font, a maximum of 5 pictures may be attached)
  - Deadline: Fri., Jan. 5, 2018 by 18:00
  - Method of Submission: E-mail ( or in-person at the CORE Project administrative office
  - Contestants that make it through the qualifying round will automatically be enrolled for consideration for the grand prize. The winners of the grand prize will be granted an award by the president of NRF and the designated cash prize will be disbursed.

3. SNU participated in the 2017 CORE Project Excellence and Exchange gathering. The event provided both SNU and other universities the opportunity to share their results for the year.

  A. Objective: The exchange of information between the 19 universities participating in the CORE project and the presentation of current business affairs by each university.
  B. Event Outline

    3) SNU Theme of Excellence: The Construction of a Stable Foundation of  Core Studies for the Cultivation of Future Generations of Learning
